About us

Founded in 2006, the Kenya Independent Schools Association (KISA) is a dynamic organization representing over 1,600 private schools across Kenya, serving approximately 450,000 pupils. Our mission is to champion equitable education opportunities for children from underserved households by supporting low-cost private schools in their quest to provide quality and affordable education.
KISA acts as a vital bridge between its members, the government, and other stakeholders, advocating for fair policies and resource allocation to ensure the success of private schools that cater to low-income communities. We believe that education is the cornerstone of societal growth, and through our efforts, we aim to level the playing field for children who may otherwise be left behind.
Our association is built on the principles of inclusivity, accountability, and innovation. We work closely with local and international partners to enhance the capacity of our member schools. Through workshops, seminars, and training sessions, we empower school administrators and teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver exceptional educational experiences. Additionally, we facilitate the provision of resources such as teaching materials, infrastructure support, and access to grants and donations that directly benefit the schools and their pupils.
At KISA, we prioritize community empowerment, understanding that education extends beyond the classroom. We support initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of the families we serve, enabling them to participate more actively in their children’s educational journeys.
Today, KISA stands as a beacon of hope and progress in the education sector, continually driving positive change and ensuring that no child is denied the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Join us in our mission to transform education and create a brighter future for Kenya’s next generation.
